8.00am Warrandyte Festival Bike Ride: Staggered start 8.00 – 8.30am. Showcasing Nillumbik’s scenic countryside. This is a great ride, available to experienced road cyclists, providing an opportunity to escape the traffic and enjoy quiet roads. The 40km course entails a variety of undulating terrain and breathtaking views. View the Route Map
8.30am Billy Cart Derby, Police Street: Registration 8.30am – 9.15am. Ages 8 – 15, plus a race for the parents. Lots of great prizes and trophies. $8 registration. Sponsored by Apollo Cycles, Warrandyte RSL, Warrandyte Welding, Dean Stuart Industrial Supplies. Billycarts must meet set safety criteria.
9.30am Dog Show and Pet Parade, Lower Riverbank: Various categories including cats, rabbits, mice, goldfish, birds etc. All animals welcome if under owner’s control. Hosted by Warrandyte High School.
10.30am – 12.30pm Kids’ Market, Upper Reserve: Enjoy home-made and home-grown goodies created by local kids. Stall applications available from local schools or online.
1.30pm Warrandyte Gift, Upper Reserve: A series of fast paced and skilled races for teams, individuals, kids and families including Jellybean & Sack Races and Waiters Races for teams, all culminating in the ‘Undie 500’ team event. Great prizes and free entry. Register early!
2.00pm Gold Mine Tour, meet at 104 Webb Street: Join John for a leisurely walk, visiting an 1850’s gold mine. 90 minutes’ duration. Wear flat shoes. Hosted by Uniting Church. Donation to Walk Against Want appreciated.
2.30pm Duck Race, Yarra River: See over 1000 decorated plastic ducks launched into the Yarra and battling for glory! Ducks are sold at local schools beforehand and during the weekend at the Information Caravan. Launched at Forbes Street and finishing at Stiggants Street. $2 entry. Trophies awarded.
3.30pm – 4.30pm Warrandyte Festival Lawn Tennis Championships hosted by the Warrandyte Tennis Club, near the footbridge at the bottom of Stiggant Street. This event will be open to all players from seven years old to adults, with the following categories:
- Hot Shots Challenge event – (Ages 7-10)
- Junior – (Ages 11-14)
- Parent / Child
- Open (All ages)
Entry is free. There will be prizes for all participants and free entry into the Raffle draw for a tennis racquet. The format will be round robin and fast paced. There will be six “Red Ball” courts in action.
